Offshore Outsourcing
Offshore outsourcing is getting lots of negative attention these days. For several years now, large corporations have been outsourcing back office service work to places like India and the Philippines. Recently this trend has picked up steam.
All predictions say the trend will accelerate over the next 5 years, even expanding from call centers and software programming, to include many new types of highly skilled office work. A study by Wharton Business School indicates that back-office HR services, financial services, and insurance services will increasingly move offshore in the next 5 years. Even higher level analytic jobs (cash-flow forecasting) and management jobs have begun to migrate overseas. Read about the Wharton study here.
