Wal-Mart Wants Piece of SMB Market
Sam's Club, a unit of Wal-Mart, is planning to offer group health insurance products to small businesses. The insurance plans will target businesses with under 100 employees. (Update: Hat tip to Doug, the Infoman, for alerting me to this news item.)
How ironic. Wal-Mart, which has in the past been accused on driving small mom and pop retail outlets out of business, is now catering to small businesses. You know the small and midsize business (SMB) market is attractive when the world's largest retailer wants a piece of it.
